Last year we were given the opportunity to review Wits and Wagers Family and had a blast with it so were eagerly awaiting North Star Games newest game, Say Anything Family Edition, to be released. Much to our surprise, we were given the opportunity to review this one as well as part of the TOS Homeschool Crew. Would we like it as much? Would it live up to our expectation?
The answer is a resounding YES!
While we may have started each game on the serious side (we’re kind of like), by the end we were talking about flying ice cubes, bouncing balls with princesses stuck inside and talking cats. Say what? Well, part of this game is that you can SAY ANYTHING so some answers can get rather silly to say the least. Here’s a little information from the company:
Say Anything is a light-hearted game about what you and your loved ones think. It gives you the chance to settle questions that have been hotly debated for centuries. For instance, “What magical power would be the coolest to have?” or “What would be the more fun thing to throw off a tall build?” So dig deep into your heart or just come up with something witty – this is your chance to Say Anything.
Each player gets a dry erase board to two matching tokens. Players take turns being the judge and choosing their favorite reply to an opinion question like those above and the others guess which one the judge will choose and points are awarded accordingly. This game is simple, moves along at a good pace and can be enjoyed by just about everyone in the family. We were able to play with our six year old daughter who isn’t reading by having everyone else write out their answers first and then have her tell us her answer to write down. While she certainly doesn’t have a poker face some of the fun was watching her eyes get big and round when people wrote down answers that she especially liked! We tried playing it with just the two kids and I but it was a ltttle bit boring that way….we know each other well….it wasn’t hard to guess what each person would answer and the game ended quite quickly. However, we had the opportunity to play with Daddy a few times and it was more fun and we bet it would be best with a group.
I’m sure that this is a game that we will pull out from time to time when we have only a few minutes to play together. The game moves quickly enough that we can pick it up when Daddy has a 20 minute break and play a whole game. You can’t say that about very many games and with my husband’s busy season upon us anytime that we can do something with him is so precious. For 19.99$US, I think this is a worthwhile game to have on the shelf for a rainy day!
