Screen Shot 2013-03-02 at 10.06.23 AM I can’t really believe that it Friday again so soon! Time just seems to be flying by. It is nearly the middle of July. Summer will be over before we know it. I suppose I shouldn’t mention such things as so many of my friends love the heat. I’m just not much of a summer time gal and much prefer the cooler temperatures of autumn and even those of winter. That in neither here nor there so I’d better just get on with listing some of my favourite moments of the week with Friday’s Fave Five hosted at Living to Tell the Story. I hope you’ll join in with a few of your favourite moments as well.

1. Generosity from strangers. I just joined and online sharing/swapping group and asked for a few pieces of summer clothes for my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised when someone offered to give me clothes as well. I’ve been have some self-esteem issues because of my magical belly and had mostly been living in Mike’s old t-shirts and shorts since the warmer temperatures hit and getting some pretty, feminine clothes was so nice.

2. Having my French macarons turn out quite nicely. I love to bake and cook, but felt that I’d lost my touch over the past few years (we had an awesome stove when we lived in Vaudreuil and I blamed my failures on a VERY temperamental oven). I can however still bake. Not a single macaron cracked and every one of them had feet. The raspberry creme was also quite good if I do say so myself!

Screen Shot 2013-07-07 at 9.52.12 PM3. Good things growing in the garden. We may not have a lot growing this year, but I am thankful for every little bit. It is fun to take Ruadhán out each morning to see what is growing.

4. Listening to my daughter read. She’s come such a long ways in the last couple of months. She went from having to painfully sound out every word to willingly reading chapter books in such a short time. Just goes to show you that they really will learn things in their own time and pressuring them likely isn’t going to do a whole lot to help.

5. Finding an old A/C unit in one of the sheds. It is so noisy that it makes me feel ill, but I turn in on in the livingroom in the evening when I am putting Ruadhán to bed and it is so nice to come out to a cooler livingroom. Looks like we will need it again over the weekend!

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and that you check in with some of your favourite moments of the week!
