The Magic Room ~ A Blogher Review

If you happen to be the parent of a little (or not so little) girl, The Magic Room: A Story About the Love we Wish for Our Daughters by Jeffrey Zaslow will have you examining your views on love, relationships and marriage. Focusing on small town Fowlers’ bridal shop, Becker’s Bridal, this book follows several women and their families as they choose their wedding gown and take those last few steps before marriage. Intertwined in this is the history of Becker’s and how this family shop has affected four generations of women over it’s 70 year story.

I was touched by several of the women’s stories and how love shone through adversity. I loved reading the stories through the eyes of the mother of a little girl and I hope one day that my daughter will find such a love for herself. This book also had me longing to share such a time with my own mother who passed away when I was only 12 years old. I don’t know her love story and wishes for her girls as I never had a chance to know her as an adult. This book will have me working on building such a relationship with my own daughter from a young age. I want her to know that she can be loved and deserves nothing less.
